Prime Purpose

The System Test Engineer will lead the Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for Intellian’s L-Band Centre of Excellence team based in London, ensuring new products entering our L-band global product portfolio meet all applicable requirements and regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager of the L-Band CoE, the System Test Engineer will lead the system verification and validation activities necessary to bring new products to market. They will be responsible for developing, executing and reporting test programs to ensure products meet all applicable requirements from regulatory compliance to satellite operator approvals. They will work alongside the development team to refine test strategies, diagnose problems and improve product quality.

The Test Engineer will be part of an interdisciplinary team, working alongside a team of engineers, project management, consultants, and engineering/QA/Production Teams at Intellian’s UK development centre and Intellian’s headquarters in South Korea.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the verification and validation lifecycle for products developed by the L-Band Centre of Excellence
  • Lead the integration testing of new products under development
  • Write and execute test plans, procedures and reports to ensure products meet various requirements that include regulatory compliance, satellite operator type approvals, and product specifications
  • Work closely with the development team to refine test strategies, diagnose problems and improve
    product quality
  • Provide input Design For Test and other V&V requirements during the product definition and
    development phases
  • Work closely with Engineering, QA and Production teams in the Korean HQ
  • Manage and coordinate the compliance and speciality test activities executed by third-party test labs
  • Maintain a high standard of documentation and reporting
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis investigations into issues observed during development and failures observed in the field
  • Provide training and technical support as required to other members.
Experience - Mandatory
  • Experience in integration & block testing of incremental software & hardware releases for products
    and/or projects
  • Authoring test documentation (plans, procedures, reports)
  • Excellent debugging, failure analysis and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC and their measurement methods
  • Experience with regulatory compliance testing (eg ETSI, FCC, EU Directives etc)
  • Proficiency with Python scripting for test equipment control, test automation and data analysis
Experience - Desirable
  • Prior experience with satellite or wireless communication terminals
  • Experience with RF and electronics test equipment (including Spectrum Analysers, VNAs, Power Meters, Oscilloscopes etc)
  • Experience with work management and bug reporting tools (eg Jira)
  • Type approvals and homologation experience
  • Experience running field and/or customer trials
Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in RF/electronic/electrical engineering or similar discipline, or equivalent professional experience
