Working alongside the Senior Hardware Engineer and reporting to the Engineering Manager of L-Band CoE, the Hardware Engineer will design and develop various Digital and Analogue hardware modules within the agreed cost, schedule, performance requirements and quality.
The Hardware Engineer will be part of an interdisciplinary Team, working closely with other engineers, project management, consultants and engineering/QA/Production Teams at Intellian’s UK development centre and Intellian’s headquarters in South Korea to design and deliver designs suitable for mass production and longevity in the field.
The selected candidate will ensure the designs are completed and documented to a high standard, meet all performance and other relevant requirements, and drive continuous improvement activities to improve performance and quality before moving to mass production.
Related tasks will cover part or all the activities regarding the full life cycle development, including identifying customer needs and mission, requirements analysis, systems engineering, design, development, test and verification, quality assurance support and transfer to production.

Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities:

• Design and document analogue and digital hardware solutions that meet the requirements, size, manufacturing cost, EMI/EMC compliance and manufacturability. • Complete ownership of the development process from concept to board, through to transfer into mass production. This includes analysis of customer specifications, subsystem and detailed design, design integration and qualification, follow up of the design into production.
• Understand and apply an excellent knowledge of trade-offs involved in developing hardware for small and lightweight products.
• Build, test and verify performance of designs in development using a variety of methods including benchtop measurements and integrated system testing.
• Apply an in-depth knowledge of best practices and engineering judgment to make design decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in electronic hardware development, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions.
• Research of new and novel design solutions that provide desired or improved performance within the constraints of the overall product requirements.
• Have a sound understanding of the mechanical structure impact on board design and EMI/EMC and collaborate with other engineers to resolve technical conflicts and trade-offs.
• Use a comprehensive understanding of Satellite Communication Terminals and Radio systems in general to ensure complete system requirements are met.
• Develop clear and detailed documentation and present work to stakeholders as required.
• Support all documentation and testing required for regulatory approvals, certification and qualification of the products.
• Work closely with the Korea HQ team to support QA and production of the design.

The Hardware Engineer will:
• Develop high performance, reusable analogue and digital hardware modules in L-Band for our range of satellite user terminals.
• Involved in the whole product lifecycle; refining product specification, producing innovative designs, generating complexity/work estimates, fixing issues and engaging with a multi-discipline team.
• Work closely with the systems team on the definition of performance requirements.
• Provide training and technical support as required to other members.
• Work inside an enthusiast multi-disciplinary engineering team which will allow you to evolve and enlarge your competence
