Job Description

This role is a hands on development, implementation & improvement of automated antenna test & calibration system (ATS) for both manufacturing and engineering design verification of satellite user terminals based on active phased array technology, using mainly off-the-shelf RF instruments. The basic job tasks include:

  • Develop test & calibration algorithm and write code in Python or similar languages for the ATS
  • Carry out testing, calibration, and verification of the phased array subsystem
  • Conduct integration & testing of the entire satellite user terminal comprising of active phased array antenna, modem, up/down converters, and the associated software
  • Debug & analyze root-cause of test failures
  • Work closely with RF and manufacturing engineers as well as the ATS operators to implement efficient & fast test & calibration functionalities for different types of active phased arrays and user terminals
  • Provide training and technical support, and incorporate feedback from test operators
Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation of the automate testing & calibration of active phased array-based satellite user terminals, including:

 

  • Translate test requirements & key product characteristics for the automated testing & calibration system for the phased array
  • Implement pass/fail criteria and make sure that terminals that pass the ATS pass are fully spec compliant as well as compliant with regulatory requirements including antenna patterns, cross-polarization, system G/T, antenna & system gains, and EIRP mask compliance
  • Implement automating processes and testing of satellite terminal sub-systems & functions including WIFI, GPS, and inertia measurement sensors
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related fields
  • Experience as a Test Engineer
  • Experience with new product development or factory production
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, coupled with well-focused details
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related fields
  • Knowledge of microwave, active phased array or other types of antennas
  • Familiarity with test equipment like vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, noise figure meters, power meters etc.
  • Experience in antenna pattern measurements including active element patterns, gain, G/T, beam-width, sidelobe levels, co and cross polarization levels, axial ratio, return loss, insertion Loss, coupling factors, etc.
  • Experience in development test software, automation, manufacturing, or embedded electronics
  • Experience working with high-volume electronics manufacturing
